Automation in Database Management Since the beginning of big data, there has always been an extensive amount of work required of the database administrators that build and maintain their systems. A trending new technology is making great strides as of lately in reducing the repetitive or mundane tasks that take up the employeesââ¬â¢ valuable time. The advent of automation in database maintenance has a promising outlook in making regular procedures more efficient. So what is automation? In its simplest state, automation is ââ¬Å"the technique, method, or system of operating or controlling a process by highly automatic means, as by electronic devices, reducing human intervention to a minimumâ⬠according to dictionary.com. This is a widespread trend that spans all different types of industries, from manufacturing to computer technology. It seems like it would make sense to inevitably spread to database systems, which is now evident on a large scale. There are many proponents of this new method, who see it as th e new norm in terms of upkeep. At the rate it is expanding and providing new opportunities to implement it, there should be a huge increase in what types of tasks can be automated within the very near future.
